Nintendo World Championships 2017 Announced Starting August 19th

Nintendo World Championships 2017

The Nintendo World Championships 2017 was just announced. Nintendo’s original esports tournament is taking a slightly different approach in comparison to it’s rebut in 2015. In partnership with Best Buy, the 2017 Nintendo World Championships will start with qualifying events starting on August 19th, 2017 – and continue throughout September until the final tournament which will be hosted in New York at Manhattan Center’s Grand Ballroom on October 7th. Two groups of players will be eligible for the tournament, which will be based on age. One group will consist of players 12 years of age and under, while the second will consist of anyone above the age of 12. Both groups will play Mario Kart 7 for the Nintendo 3DS. The younger group of players will play as Mario on the “Nintendo DS Luigi’s Mansion” course using a standard kart with standard wheels and the Super Glider. The older group of players will play as Bowser on the GBA course “Bowser Castle 1” using a standard kart with standard wheels and the Super Glider. Winners will chosen by the fastest times in Time Trial at the end of the two-day qualifying event at each Best Buy location listed below. For My Nintendo Members in need of some Nintendo points we have good news for you. Using your My Nintendo QR Code at the qualifier event you can receive 100 Platinum Points. My Nintendo members who are one of the first 200 attendees to check into each of the Best Buy locations will receive a My Nintendo pin.

The New York Manhattan Center’s Grand Ballroom finals will take place on October 7th, 2017. The tournament on the 7th will feature a diverse range of games which will tax the participants skills in many different ways. The grand prize for the Nintendo World Championships 2017 has a  ARV value of $2,780. See the list of different Best Buy stores taking part in the qualifying rounds starting on August 19th, 2017 below. All times listed are local times, so please mark them in your calendar and check out Nintendo’s official page for the 2017 tournament here.
