Compare The Wonderful 101 Remastered Switch/PS4 Vs Wii U Version?

The Wonderul 101 Remastered

There have been some comparisons of The Wonderful 101 for the Wii U and the new “Remastered” edition for the Switch & PS4 by the Digital Foundry recently. The video game technical analysis team at Digital Foundry compared The Wonderful 101 Remastered to the original version which released exclusively on the Wii U over 5 years ago. Overall the game hasn’t resolved a variety of issues that plagued the game’s original release on the Wii U – mainly the inconsistent frame-rate. Overall the Wii U version ran at 720p at about 60 frames per second. The frame rate would drop into the 40’s depending on how much action is taking place on the screen at once. Digital Foundry found that the frame rate for The Wonderful 101 Remastered isn’t much improved. While the Switch and the PS4 can play the game at 1080p the increase in resolution isn’t very apparent or noticeable. The bump in resolution comes at the expense of less frames in the Nintendo Switch version and a decrease in the game’s frames rate. According to the Digital Foundry the Switch version runs worse on the Nintendo Switch than it did on the Wii U. The only console to be able to play the game at 60 fps was the PS4, which also had moments of frame rate drop and performance issues. The remastered edition doesn’t include any additional modes or content so its hard to see what actually was remastered about this Wii U port. The Wonderful 101 Remastered releases for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Steam on May 19th, 2020 in North America. The game will release on May 22nd 2020 in Europe.
