According to Famitsu (a video game sales tracking company) the Nintendo Switch has overtaken the PS4 in lifetime sale figures in Japan. Famitsu claims that the Switch has sold 8,125,637 units in Japan compared to the 8,077,756 that the PS4 has sold since the console launched. This makes the Switch the best selling console in Japan for this generation.
While the Wii U may have been deemed a failure against the PS3 and PS4 Nintendo sure hit gold with the Nintendo Switch. Currently the console is outselling both the Xbox One and PS4 in North America and Japan on a weekly basis. Nintendo’s hybrid console frequently outsells the Xbox One in Europe and trails the PS4 only slightly week after week in Europe. With both the North American and Japanese markets going to the Nintendo Switch it should only be a matter of time before the Switch passes the PS4’s total lifetime sales. What do you think?
