Five Nintendo Remakes We’d Like To See On Nintendo Switch

headline article

Nintendo has been in the remake business for a long time, from the Super Nintendo to the Wii U. So one might ask what games should Nintendo remake for the Nintendo Switch? On the Wii U we saw The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD. With the Nintendo Switch crossing the bridge between Nintendo portable and Nintendo console there are countless remakes possible. Below is our top 5 Nintendo remakes we’d like to see on the Nintendo Switch.

5 – The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD

Of all the Zelda games that need a remake, Skyward Sword may be the top contender. Plagued by critics and the anti-Wii movement, Skyward Sword failed to achieve the sales rate that other console Zelda games received. A Zelda Skyward Sword HD remake for the Nintendo Switch makes sense. Considering how well both the Wii U Zelda HD remakes turned out many people have been asking for a Zelda Skyward Sword HD or 4K remake. Since the first Zelda game to get released on the Switch is bound to be Breath of the Wild we’ll probably have to wait on a Skyward Sword remake. Mark our words, Nintendo will most likely do some HD re-design in time.

4 – Super Mario Galaxy HD

Released on the original Wii, Super Mario Galaxy is one of the best platformers on Nintendo’s motion based system. The game’s graphics still look great today, but image the game with a new coat of HD paint. Super Mario Galaxy HD for the Nintendo Switch would be a welcomed remake.

3 – Xenoblade Chronicles HD

Remaking Xenoblade Chronicles would be a difficult task considering how big the game is. Xenoblade’s release on the Wii was mired with constant delays, and for awhile seemed unlikely to see an American release. Eventually Nintendo published Xenoblade Chronciles in North America. While unlikely, we’d welcome a HD remake of the first entry into the Xenoblade series.

2 – Super Mario Sunshine HD

Remaking a Gamecube game worked for The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD. Another great Gamecube game that needs a remake is Super Mario Sunshine. Imagine seeing this Mario adventure refreshed on the Nintendo Switch. The game is fairly underrated, and deserves Nintendo’s remake treatment.

1 – Super Mario 64 HD

Very unlikely, but a remake of Super Mario 64 would be very nostalgic for Nintendo fans. Mario’s first N64 outing has been re-released multiple times, on the DS, Wii Shop and Wii U eShop. Remaking the N64 classic would provide Nintendo with an easy opportunity to provide the Switch with a high quality platformer (and still one of the best). Super Mario 64 HD is on the top of our Nintendo remake wish list.
