There’s no official date set for the release of Luigi’s Mansion on the 3DS other than sometime in 2018. The 3DS remake/port of the Gamecube original will make use of the 3DS’s 3D technology. What makes this interesting is the original Luigi’s Mansion on the Gamecube was originally being planned to be a 3D game. Back during its development Nintendo tinkered with a 3D overlay which would stick to a TV and give Luigi’s Mansion a 3D effect. The 3D overlay for the Gamecube was eventually scrapped during the development process due to a variety of factors. The 3DS version of Luigi’s Mansion will incorporate one of the game’s earliest concepts for the first time.

Controlling Capatin Toad, players rotate a diorama level while trying to locate and collect treasure.
