I finally decided to stop procrastinating and replace the squealing brake pads on my 2014 Accord this past weekend, and honestly I’m pretty chuffed with myself for getting it done. I watched a few tutorials online and picked up a decent jack and some basic tools, and the whole process was way more straightforward than I expected, though I will admit wrestling the caliper bolts off was a bit of a workout. The old pads were down to maybe 3mm, so I definitely caught it just in time before I started damaging the rotors, and the new ones from a reputable brand went in smoothly after I compressed the piston properly with a C-clamp . I saved a good chunk of money doing it myself compared to what a garage would charge, and there’s a real sense of satisfaction knowing I did the work myself and can trust it’s done right . I followed the recommended bedding-in procedure, doing those gentle stops from 50mph to let everything seat properly, and now the car stops nice and smooth with no more noise . I’m already looking forward to tackling the rear brakes next weekend because honestly, once you’ve done it once, it’s not nearly as intimidating as it seems. Has anyone else here recently done a car brake pad replacement themselves and found it easier than they expected, or do you prefer leaving it to the pros for peace of mind?
