I’m on my third battery in four years with my 2017 Ford Focus and I’m starting to suspect the car itself is the problem. The first battery died after about 18 months, second one lasted maybe 20 months, now this one is showing signs of weakness. The car always starts fine in the morning but after a few short trips around town it starts cranking slower. I’ve had the alternator tested twice and both times it came back fine. No obvious drains that I can find. I’ve been reading about Ford’s smart charging system that varies the alternator output based on driving conditions, and some people say it can undercharge batteries if you only do short trips. I’m considering taking it somewhere that actually understands this system. I found a place advertising the Certified Ford Battery Replacement Service at Battery Zone UAE and they mentioned checking the battery management system as part of the install. Has anyone else had this issue with a modern Ford? Did resetting the BMS after a new battery help? I’ll be honest, I’ve never reset anything, I just swapped the battery and drove off. Could that be my whole problem? Also does the Focus have any known software updates related to charging? I’m getting tired of buying batteries every year and a half. Would love to hear from other Focus or Fiesta owners who’ve solved this. Thanks for any advice. This is driving me nuts.
