You know when a game build just clicks? That’s what happened with Lexd’s hardcore self-found Warrior that basically lived and died by Shield Bash. Sounds crazy, right? It’s not about big shiny explosions or screen wipes – it’s slow, heavy, and precise. The whole thing centres on Raise Shield: you hold block, time the release just right, and the bash hits like a truck thanks to scaling off your shield’s armour. Here’s the thing – if you mess the timing, you’re stuck, so positioning and patience matter way more than usual. Early days in Act 1 were rough, but by Act 2 the build started feeling solid, even in a solo run without outside trading or PoE 2 Currency boosts.

Support gems carry a lot of weight here. At the start, Pin was the go-to for controlling stuns from packs that could’ve left him locked up. Midway through Act 2, swapping to Brutality II changed the tone completely – that pure physical damage boost is no joke. Bleed added another layer: it’s not instant kill stuff, but stack it on bosses and watch their health tick down. On the passive tree, it’s a straight push through the lower-left, chasing stun threshold first because without it, you’d be stunning yourself every other fight. After that, armour, block, life – all the tank stats. One surprise MVP? Thorns. Every block throws damage back, so mobs hurt themselves just by trying to touch you.

The gear grind in SSF is always a pain, but Act 2 delivered some wins. Swapping a meh 93-armor shield for a 192-armor monster was a turning point – double the bash damage, and boss fights suddenly took half as long. Then came thorns jewellery – an amulet and a pair of rings – making small mobs basically suicide into your shield. A helmet with life and decent resists rounded it off, making his survival rate skyrocket even when fights got ugly. In SSF, those small wins feel massive because you know you earned every single piece.

Bosses were where this build proved itself. Wrathbreaker and Rattlecage? Simple – hold block, bash, repeat until they drop. But Zalmarath the Colossus? That was a grind. Twenty-two minutes of hit, block, bleed ticking away, and thorns working overtime. Same story with the Kabala Constrictor Queen – total patience game, moving just enough, never overcommitting. These fights weren’t about blowing stuff up fast – they were tests of timing, knowing when you can squeeze in one more bash safely, and trusting your defences to wear enemies down.

By the end of Act 2, it was clear this wasn’t some meme setup. Done right, Shield Bash becomes a wall that hits back – and in hardcore SSF, that’s gold. It rewards focus, timing, and grit more than flashy gear or huge crit numbers. Lexd’s run shows that even in a game full of giant damage builds, sometimes playing the tank and turning defence into offence is just as fun – especially when you piece it together without the luxury of outside help or farming poe 2 currency.
