Today marks 15 years since the release of Metroid Prime on the Nintendo Gamecube. Samus’s first 128-bit adventure marked the bounty hunter’s first outing into first person. The Prime series now has 3 main entries, with a complete collection available on the Wii as the Metroid Prime Collection (contains Metroid Prime 1 – 3).

When it released, Metroid Prime on the Gamecube had to compete with a variety of first person shooters, including Halo, Call of Duty and Medal of Honor. Prime’s focus on story, graphics and a great single player experience cemented the series reputation among Metroid fans and critics alike.

Nintendo did state that a new Metroid Prime game is in development for the Nintendo Switch. Hopefully we’ll know more next year, possibly during E3 2018. Since its the 15th anniversary of Metroid Prime we we’re wondering what memories you have of playing the original? Let us know using the comments below.
