Time Names Nintendo Labo One of 2018’s Best Inventions

Nintendo Labo Makes Time's Best Inventions of 2018

Nintendo Labo was one of those “Nintendo Different” products that released last year without much fanfare. The DIY cardboard cutouts never really caught on fire like other Nintendo products but this hasn’t stopped industry critics and media to take notice. Time magazine which puts out a list of the year’s best inventions named the Nintendo Labo one of 2018’s best inventions. The novelty of designing your own cardboard controllers for interaction with Nintendo Labo’s mini-games is so different the media publication decided it had to be one of last year’s best inventions. As of date Nintendo has sold 1.3 million Labo kits since its launch last April. While not terrible sales, they haven’t reached the height of other Nintendo console add-ons (like the Wii Balance Board or the Wii Zapper).

Last year the Nintendo Switch made Time’s 25 Best Inventions of 2017 – so with Nintendo Labo the company has made the list the last two years in a row. Not bad!
