The head of corporate planning at Sony, Kazuhiko Takeda had a few things to say concerning the Nintendo Switch during a questions & answers interview with the Asian business website Nikkei.com. When asked about Sony’s gaming business Mr. Takeda said the company’s main focus is in “selling both the game console and the software for it”, and that the company was more interested in getting “customers paying continuously for content, for example through paid subscription services”.
When it came down to getting the consumer’s attention, Kazuhiko had this to say about the Nintendo Switch:
At our gaming business, sales of the PlayStation 4 are strong heading into the holidays. But we can’t ignore the Nintendo Switch, which has also captured consumers’ attention.
