Captain Toad first appeared in Super Mario 3D World for the Wii U in 2013. Now the treasure seeking Toad is starring in his own game, titled “Captain Toad Treasure Tracker”.

No release date has been set except for a tentative “Holiday 2014” by Nintendo. The game centers around the same cube shaped levels that appeared in Super Mario 3D World. Players will focus on navigating Captain Toad around each levels obstacles, while tracking down hidden treasure and avoiding baddies scattered throughout each level. If the game plays similar to Super Mario 3D World’s Captain Toad levels then players will turn the camera using the R & L buttons on the Wii U GamePad. Each level acts as a maze, requiring players to use skill and strategy to make it through each level. From the videos and screenshots provided by Nintendo the game seems full of life, with amazing detail and energy seeping out of every stage and area. So far the game is marked as a 1-player game, but maybe Nintendo will allow players to create & share their own Captain Toad stages.
